Concept art for Captain America: Civil War revealed

Umberto Gonzalez, best known as El Mayimbe, posted some leaked concept art from Marvel’s upcoming Captain America: Civil War. The image shows Captain Steve Rogers facing Iron Man. Both of them are wearing updated version of their suits. Stark seems to be wearing a suit more faithful to the Civil War source material, the “Bleeding Edge” armor that comes from the comic books.

The movie will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo for a May 6th, 2016 release date.

Here’s a list of the actors considered for the Spider-Man role in the MCU

Let the discussion start. Which of these actor do you want to be the new Spider-Man?

Back in 2012 and 2014, Andrew Garfield did a great job playing Peter Parker. The character was poorly written and unrelatable like in the comics. However, no one can deny Garfield worked hard when he had that role in his control.

Life goes on, Marvel and Sony made a deal to have Spider-Man in the MCU and now the studio needs a new actor. A good friend, Jeff Sneider of The Wrap broke the story.

While Sony and Marvel had no comment on the shortlist, these the actors considered for the role of Peter Parker.

Nat Wolff, best known for his role in The Fault in our Stars. He will be next to Cara Delevingne in Paper Towns.

Tom Holland, the kid from The Impossible.

Timothee Chalamet from Interstellar

Liam James best known for 2012 and The Way, Way Back

Asa Butterfield, a kid who worked with Martin Scorsese on Hugo. Butterfield also gained the main role in Ender’s Game.

Something curious about this shortlist is they are just finding someone who looks like a teenager and who can sign a deal for multiple movies. Spider-Man is only going to have a cameo in Captain America: Civil War since the central characters in the film are – obviously – going to be Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and Black Panther. The third installment in the Captain America series will film very soon. The role of Peter Parker won’t be filled until June, when the character is needed.

Like a said, I’m intrigued about this shortlist. If it’s true, Marvel and Sony are not only looking for a young actor, they’re looking for any kind of actor. There’s diversity in heights and ages. Wolff is the older and taller from the bunch, being 20 years old and 1,85m tall. Asa Butterfield is 1,78m tall while the other two are 1,70m and 1,68m.

Interesting fact about this is that Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, said the suit design is done, so according to that, they already have an actor. I mean, they should, looks at those heights. Physically, they’re very different people and the suit has to be on point for whoever is being cast as the new Spider-Man.

Personally, I would go with Tom Holland. The kid looks like a nice fit for the character and his awkwardness is quite Peter Parkerish.

Drew Goddard is the frontrunner to direct the new Spider-Man adaptation to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The rumored title is Spectacular Spider-Man and it’s set to hit cinemas July 28, 2017.

Here’s the Captain America: Civil War synopsis

Earlier this day Collider came up with the news that Captain America: Civil War has a synopsis and it’s pretty much what everyone expected this thing to be. Clearly, Marvel Studios is not directly an adaptation of the original Marvel comic book written by Mark Millar. Since there is no secret identities in this cinematic universe, it will be interesting how the studio and the Russo brothers – who are returning after their amazing work in The Winter Soldier – pull this off. I will take this with a grain of salt since is everything what I expected the plot to be after reading the comic book, and this plot synopsis is way too short. Perhaps, it’s not very long because is a movie that is just going to start to film in less than two weeks and this is a 2016 release, but who knows. After you read the plot synopsis, you can stop reading the article in case you don’t like to enter to a spoilery field.

Here’s the plot synopsis for Captain America: Civil War:

Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.

It is the basic plot from the comic book, but notice how they mention “world” which is making this picture a bit global, just like Avengers: Age of Ultron. Maybe the global aspect of this movie is what is going to introduce Black Panther to the general public.

Yesterday, Bleeding Cool ran a scoop about Civil War, which mentions who will appear in the film. According to Devin Faraci from Badass Digest, this scoop is wrong or Marvel is changing some of the events post- Age of Ultron that are leading to Avengers: Infinity War. According to Bleeding Cool:

So, Captain America: Civil War. It will feature Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Black Panther.

It will also feature Hulk, Thor, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, and a fourteen year old Peter Parker, Spider-Man.

What is mentioned in the first paragraph has already been confirmed, it’s true. The second thing they reported is not quite right. As far as I know, Marvel’s plans is to have a young Peter Parker, but not a fourteen-year old, a bit older than that. Definetly younger than Andrew Garfield’s version, but older than fourteen. Having a Peter Parker who is that old is basically having a kid in the team and unleashes some issues like having a cinematic Robin. The Avengers are dragging a kind to save the world and probably get killed. No.

Now, if you are spoilerphobic, you may abandon the article now. We are getting in some spoilery territory. Go and come back in some weeks after you saw Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Here we go.

Since last year, Devin Faraci often talks about how familiar he is with the Age of Ultron script. Turns out he has seen two draft. He says the Bleeding Cool scoop could be wrong because there are some events from the end of the second Avengers installment that don’t fit into the scoop.

Thor leaves Earth, to deal to whatever will lead to events we will see in Thor: Ragnarok. In the end of this movie, Hulk is missing. It makes no sense to make this move at the ending of the film and scratching it to have him in a upcoming Captain America sequel. It takes all the drama away.

Iron Man will retire at the of Age of Ultron. Captain America and Nick Fury will form a new team, like we reported last year. I do think Ant-Man and the Wasp may have some cameos in Civil War, but nothing huge. Same happens with Spidey, I believe he is not going to have a major role in this movie.

Bleeding Cool further reports that one of the Avengers is not going to make it to end of Age of Ultron, that guy is Quicksilver. You could easily think of that after watching every trailer Marvel Studios have released. But, I mentioned earlier that Devin Faraci to two drafts of Age of Ultron.

Faraci says that in one of the scripts, one of the eariler draft, Pietro dies. The latest draft has a Quicksilver who makes it to the end of the movie, and if you see the second TV spot they released, you can see this character hitting some of the Ultron minions. This may have changes or not.

It looked like Marvel really had a solid plan of what to do after Phase 2, that’s reason why for me is so hard to believe in this rumors.
