I’m very excited for a Preacher TV series. Also, the cast for this, is very spot on. Ruth Negga has been cast as Jesse’s ex-girlfriend Tulip, and Ian Colletti was selected to play Arseface. Now, there’s a new casting announcement: the irish vampire Cassidy will be played by Jospeh Gilgun.
The actor has appeared in This is England where he is able to show how good he is. In Lockout he is terrifying. Gilgun is a perfect choice for the character.
The most wild-ass, bestest “bro” you’d ever want to meet. He may be 100 years dead but no one’s more boisterously alive than Proinsias Cassidy. An incorrigible mischief-maker, Cassidy’s up for anything — joyriding, bungee-jumping, bank robbing, peyote dropping. He’s also a relentless conversationalist with opinions on everything from religion to politics to pop culture to theories on why people are better able to tolerate the odor of their own flatulence.
The pilot for Preacher is set to film this summer for a 2016 consideration. Even if Jesse Custer has not been cast, Dominic Cooper is rumored to be in talks to take over the role.
The official series synopsis for Preacher:
Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s twisted ’90s comic book series, “Preacher” is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God.
